In this episode of OOPTalks, we sit down with Anubhuti aka @superbhuti — a stylist, art director, and creative consultant who works with brands, designers, and celebrities. What’s amazing about her work is how much of it happens behind the scenes, yet it shapes everything we end up seeing. From conceptualizing looks to directing shoots — her world is all about storytelling through style. And that’s what makes her work so fascinating.
Read on to take a glimpse into what got her into styling and how does she recharges and slows down in a city that never stops.

OOP: Can you share a little about your journey so far — how you found your way into styling?
Superbhuti: As a human, I am quite a romantic and that’s the main ingredient of the soul of my being. I grew up in Army Cantonments across India and it’s worth mentioning because this is the foundation of my taste. Dressing well is a non negotiable in this environment, while observing men and women dressed in formal tailored pieces for parties and clean yet crisp silhouettes for casual settings like sports, high tea and outdoor activities, my visual language was formed.
The starting point has been my Father’s wardrobe with an eclectic mix of self designed and customised pieces in denim, 70’s retro influences and normcore staples.
OOP: What’s your approach when styling someone — do you follow trends or try to create something timeless?
Superbhuti: When I am styling, understanding a project brief is the foundation. When working on campaigns, there is a well defined direction that I must further build on.
With celebrities, I love to understand them as people, their likes and dislikes and then work on a look that’s fresh, relevant yet timeless.

OOP: Styling can look super glamorous from the outside but we know it’s a lot of hustle — what’s the most challenging part of the job?
Superbhuti: Styling is essentially labour work, both mental and physical. One has to be really obsessed and passionate about the final outcomes to get through the difficult steps.
Most challenging part of the job is to meet with the steep timelines, balance the coordination and approvals with the client and work on remaining sane through and through.

OOP: How do you recharge when things get overwhelming? What does slowing down look like for you in a city that never stops?
Superbhuti: I love my recharge time. It is distributed through little buckets of time on most days and elongated periods on off days! An everyday formula is- Tea, incense and a good meal, basic but works!
Yes, Mumbai is a very very fast paced city but there is a part of the town that is rather well settled in its energy- Colaba. On a day off, some hours at Kala Ghoda cafe, free of tech followed by a walk around gets me ready for days together!

My daily steps with a BTS playlist have done me so good!

OOP: What role does fashion play in how you express your own personality outside of work?
Superbhuti: Fashion has always been a way of life for me. I grew up mostly around northeastern states where every individual is well dressed, it is not hierarchical or limited. I can never step out in a look that’s not put together for me. While my sensibility is lowkey, quiet statements like a signature fragrance, jewelry, cool footwear, pretty much communicate for me without speaking much!
OOP: Do you have a dream client or project you’d love to work on someday?
Superbhuti: So many and that’s what keeps me going. I want to extend to lifestyle and wellbeing and work with fashion in more meaningful ways. Current dream projects would be editorials for Atmos and I-D. I am very interested in working with indigenous communities and crafts!

OOP: How has living in Bombay influenced your style and perspective compared to Bangalore?
Superbhuti: I have always loved Bombay! I resonate with the effortless and liberating energy of the city that extends to its style. As compared to Bangalore, I enjoy the diversity here, there is a culture mix like nowhere else. On my daily walks I observe streetwear, textiles, handloom, trendy fits, culture and quiet luxury. You can be anything you want to and wholly accepted.
OOP: What does being at YOUR OWN PACE mean?
Superbhuti: Being in my own pace means having quiet strength and confidence within. If there is one person who knows my potential and worth it’s me and hence it’s my duty to show up for myself and take care of myself. I am good at not letting the external world influence me in any way, right now I am focused on living in ways that’s are intentional and wholesome because this is the pace I create from!
OOP: Any advice for people who wanna start a career as a stylist?
Superbhuti: To build a rich and diverse inner world would be my advice. Learn, read, go back to archives and indulge in print media, that’s where all the gems of the knowledge you need to absorb exist! Never fit in!
