OOPTalks 11: In Conversation With Prarthana

OOPTalks 11: In Conversation With Prarthana

The last episode of OOPTalks for 2025 features a young creative whose work sits at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and culture. Meet Prarthana, a Marketing Consultant helping brands find clarity, direction, and voice as they grow.

She brings a global perspective, sharp insight, and a thoughtful approach to everything she does. Her curiosity, creativity, and warmth make her a perfect guest for this episode — and we’re excited to dive into her journey.

OOP: Can you share a little about your journey so far.

Prarthana:  Hey, I'm Prarthana. I started my career at a freight tech startup based out of NYC. What drew me to this world was both the multitude of scope and also the ability to make real impact. Unlike in a traditional corporate role, you can be 23 at a startup and working directly with your C-suite.

In this chaotic world, you are surrounded by people who want to build something of their
own and change the world in the process — inspiration is everywhere.
Startups also don’t have the luxury of time or excess — so you end up wearing many hats,
learning quickly, having real responsibility from day one, and seeing how ideas turn into
reality (or fail entirely).

In short, building something from the ground up is immensely rewarding – I cannot
recommend it enough.

OOP: The world moves fast — how do you stay inspired and grounded amidst the constant change?

Prarthana:  Everything about the world is fast today. Screens, noise, stimulation, toxins… our environments are far from what they once were.

Two things keep me grounded: spirituality and spending time with people who make me
happy. The healing practices I am drawn to are (beyond) sacred and not something I often
feel comfortable talking about openly…but between Gita classes, breathwork, therapy,
sound-healing, and making time for the people who mean everything to me…this is where I find peace.

OOP: How has living abroad, especially in a city like New York, influenced your sense of style and how you express yourself?

Prarthana:  Living abroad changed everything about my personal style. I never really cared about clothes growing up — not even through college. But then I moved to New York and suddenly found myself surrounded by people who quite literally wore art. Being indifferent was no longer an option.

Clothing stopped being functional and started meaning something deeper. Suddenly, there were seasons to dress for; moods to acquiesce to; parts of myself asking for expression and acknowledgement.

For those of us who have the privilege to dress up often, we somehow begin to take it for
granted (and stop reflecting on the wonderful, creative ritual it really is). The reality of it is
that through clothes, we can tell any story we want to and leaning into that is life-changing! And if that sounds silly to you… well, this conversation isn’t for you anyway.

OOP: When it comes to styling, do you like to plan your looks or dress more intuitively
depending on how you feel that day?

Prarthana:  I’m in this toxic cycle of planning outfits in advance and then never wearing them the day of… so at this point, dressing is definitely intuitive.

Even when I try (really hard) to be Type A with my clothing and plan ahead, the actual act of adornment is always driven by feeling. What do I want to exude today? What do I actually exude today? How comfortable do I want to be? How feminine? How confident? I don’t dress for where I’m going or who I’m
seeing… I dress for who I am.

OOP: What does being at YOUR OWN PACE mean?

Prarthana:  Being at my own pace doesn’t mean moving slowly; it means moving in alignment.

We all know time is precious…but we also know it will pass no matter what. The world loves to tell you that you’re in a race — but with whom, and for what?

Finding spirituality helped me recall a simple truth; that life isn’t a race, but a journey. The only thing the universe really asks of us is that we become the best versions of ourselves. Honing this is when you start living at your own pace; honing this is when you find peace. And peace is usually the first sign that you’re doing something right.

OOP: What advice would you share with someone looking to move abroad to chase their dreams?

Prarthana: If you have the time and privilege to go abroad (for any amount of time)….in the words of Nike, just do it.

Nothing grows you the way being away from your support system does. Making new friends, building a life from scratch, taking care of yourself, and becoming fiercely
independent…these things will transform you more than you could have imagined.
